Information and Communication Technology Academy of Tamil Nadu – ICTACT

ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu (ICTACT) – an Initiative of Government of India, Government of Tamil Nadu and Industry, is a not-for-profit autonomous organization focusing to improve the quality of students passing out of institutions in Tamil Nadu, to make them industry ready and immediately employable in the ICT industry comprising the ICT services and the ICT manufacturing sectors. This will meet the skill requirements of the industry and generate more employment in the state especially in tier 2/3 cities ICTACT is governed by an autonomous Board of Governors with representations from the state Government of Tamil Nadu, leading companies in the ICT industry with presence in Tamil Nadu, and NASSCOM. ICTACT is a pioneering venture under the Public – Private – Partnership (PPP) model that endeavours to train the higher education teachers and students in the areas of Information & Communication Technology, thereby making the students industry ready.

Empowering Women in IT – eWIT

Empowering Women in IT (eWIT) is a women’s IT forum conceptualized by a group of IT Professionals in India. Considering the high growth of the IT industry in India , its vast global coverage and the huge employment potential that it offers, the need has been felt to create a separate platform that addresses women’s issues in the IT industry.

All women associated with the IT/ITES industry by education and/or profession anywhere in India or abroad are welcome to become members of eWIT. Furthermore, any person, provided he/she fulfils certain conditions, interested in the cause of women’s issues in IT, can be associated with eWIT as a well wisher.


Objective

National Cyber Safety and Security Standards (NCSSS) has been started with a great vision to safeguard the Nation from the current threats in the cyber space. The multi-dimensional structure of technology in the cyber space poses a great challenge in handling the complex problems in the cyber domain. National Cyber Safety and Security Standards has taken visionary initiatives to curb and enervate the notoriously spreading cyber threats from various directions and dimensions.

National Cyber Safety and Security Standards is working closely with Government/Industry on Cyber Security Policy issues, interfacing with thought leaders, and enhancing the cyber safety and security to protect organization’s critical infrastructure. NCSSS works to create and sustain an safe cyber environment conducive to the development of our Nation, partnering with Government, Industry, Institutions & Individuals through advisory and consultative processes.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) students Chapters exist in nearly every corner of the world. The network providing worldwide chapters is an integral part of the membership experience offering leadership, a forum to find solutions to problems, professional development, and career advancement opportunities for both professionals and students. Membership in an IEEE Student Chapter is free and establishes the direct link between the classroom and the conference room.

Student Chapters receive opportunities to meet with industry leaders, participate in professional development programs and develop contacts for internships and future career opportunities.

Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) – ACCE

Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) was formed and registered in 1985 by a group of Consulting Civil Engineers in Bangalore. The main object of the association is to en-courage and foster the ideals of the profession, to hold conferences/meetings/ seminars for the dissemination of knowledge amongst the civil engineers in particular and the society at large. ACCE (I) with its headquarters at Bangalore, has since grown into a National Association with centers formed all over India including Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bidar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Davangere, Dharwad, Hyderabad, Indore, Karimnagar, Mangalore, Madurai, Mysore, Nagpur, Nashik, Visakhapatnam.

ACCE (I) conducts regular activities in all its centers across the nation. Dissemination of knowledge to its members generally happens through well organised & pre-scheduled programs under different titles such as;

ISHRAE

The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers – ISHRAE

The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) was established to promote the HVAC industry in India. ISHRAE is an associate of ASHRAE. ISHRAE was started at Delhi in 1981 and a chapter was started in Bangalore in 1989. Between 1989 & 1993, ISHRAE chapters were formed in all major cities in India and also in the Middle East.

The purpose of an ISHRAE student chapter is to get more students interested, concerned, and involved in pursuing a career in the field of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration.


The objectives of the chapter are,

  • Advancement of the sciences of Heating, Refrigerating and Air conditioning Engineering and related Sciences.
  • Continuing Education of interested persons in said sciences through lectures, demonstrations and publications.
  • Rendition of Career Guidance and Financial Assistance to students of said Sciences.
  • Encouragement of Scientific Research
  • To impart Education in the fields of Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration and Allied Sciences by conducting Training Courses, Workshops, Seminars and to award Diplomas or Certificates.
  • To establish facilities for Testing, Rating, Certification of Air-conditioning, Refrigeration, and allied equipment and Systems.
  • To offer consultancy services in the areas of Education and Training in said sciences.

The Institution of Engineers (India) functions amongst professional engineers, academicians and research scientists and provides a vast array of technical, professional and supporting services to government, industry, academia as well as to the engineering fraternity.

The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is a leading professional society devoted to the advancement of science and technology of “Electronics, Telecommunications and IT”. The basic aim and objective of IETE is to promote the general advancement of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology and allied subjects & application of these and to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas on these subjects amongst IETE members. Our college started the IETE chapter in the year of 2010.The inaugural function was presided by Dr.T.G.Venkatesh Department of ECE,IIT,Chennai. To enhance the quest for knowledge, technical seminars, workshops and guest lectures were conducted through sponsorship from IETE. Moreover, IETE has facilitated with technical chairs in association with the technical conferences organized in our college. Our college was awarded with the “IETE ISF Award” in the year 2012 for the best active IETE ISF of Chennai centre. Also a total of 631 students and 10 faculty members have enrolled as members in IETE since inception.

The Indian Water Works Association – IWWA

The Indian Water Works Association (IWWA) is a voluntary body of professionals concerned and connected with water supply for municipal, industrial, agricultural uses and treatment and disposal of wastewater. IWWA focuses basically on the entire Water Cycle”encompassing the environmental, social, institutional and financing issues. IWWA was founded in 1968 with headquarters at Mumbai. IWWA has 32 Centres spread across the country and is very active in conducting different activities in the areas of Water Supply and Wasterwater Treatment and Disposal. IWWA has a membership of more than 9000 plus professionals spread all over the country and abroad. The Objective of IWWA is to stimulate and promote the development of Science, Technology, Economics, Environment, Ecology and Social Sciences in managing the Water; both fresh and waste water. The Biomedical Engineering Society of India (BMESI) is an All India, non-profit making professional learned body. The Headquarters of the BMESI is presently at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology.


Objectives:

  • To encourage, promote and advance interdisciplinary co-operation amongst scientists, engineers, and medical doctors for the growth of teaching, research and practices of Biomedical Engineering.

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society – EMBS

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) is the world’s largest International Society of Biomedical Engineers. EMBS provides its members with access to the people, practices, information, ideas and opinions that are shaping one of the fastest growing fields in science.


Objectives:

Engineers without Borders-India

Engineers without Borders-India have been established as a non-profit Society, Under the Society’s Act, to involve engineers, and other professionals with special or general skills, in a movement of constructive change. It is inspired by an urgent concern for accelerating sustainable rural development, assisting in capacity building in backward rural and urban communities of India, protecting the country’s natural resource base and working across national boundaries for social and economic justice and responsible use of technology

SESI

Solar Energy of India – SES

The Solar Energy of India (SESI), is the Indian Section of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). Its interests cover all aspects of renewable energy, including characteristics, effects and methods of use, and it provides a common ground to all those concerned with the nature and utilization of this renewable non-polluting resource.

The Society is interdisciplinary in nature, with most of the leading energy researchers and manufacturers of renewable energy systems and devices of the country as its members. High academic attainments are not a prerequisite for membership and any person engaged in research, development or utilization of renewable energy or in fields related to renewable energy and interested in the promotion of renewable energy utilization can become a member of the society.


The major activities of the Society are:

  • Publication of SESI Journal, a bi-annual technical journal containing papers on renewable energy utilization, technical notes and other items of interest of those involved in renewable energy research and development.
  • Publication of a monthly news letter, namely the SESI News Letter.
  • Organization of one –day workshops on selected topics.
  • Organization of the International Congress on Renewable Energy once in a year, where numerous scientific and technical papers are presented and discussed.
  • Publication of the proceedings of the Annual Convention.

International Association of Engineers – IAENG

The International Association of Engineers (IAENG) is a non-profit international association for the engineers and the computer scientists. IAENG members include research center heads, faculty deans, department heads, professors, research scientists/engineers, experienced software development directors and engineers, and university postgraduate and undergraduate students etc., from over one hundred different countries.
