ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Science & Humanities was established in 1999. Besides teaching and
learning, it is actively involved in research activities.
The department is aimed to support the Engineering Departments with respect to the
requirement of curriculum and technical aspects. The department is keen in imparting
knowledge which inculcates ethical values, and promotes social responsibility.
Science and Humanities Department imparts education on basics and fundamental
theories of engineering i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Physics and Chemistry lab
provides basic knowledge of science and develops scientific acumen among students. The lab has
equipped with collection of instruments based on recent technology.
Besides academics the Department is actively involved in the development of students’
personality, communication and soft skills to boost them in the modern and globally competitive
environment. The department is involved in a number of activities like conducting seminars,
workshops and guest lectures by eminent people of other universities and different organizations
and organising Industrial Visit for the students.
Well-experienced and highly qualified faculty members of the department have made
consistent and strenuous efforts to improve the students learning, research and development
processes. The students are highly benefitted by the knowledge and experience of many
researchers of the department.
As an Institutional research centre recognised under Anna University, the departments
of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry furnish the needs of PhD Research Scholars from
our college as well as from other institutions, through the Centre for Material Research and
Centre for Nanoscience. The department have been funded by various funding agencies. The
research facilities enrich both the Faculty Members and Students to promote their innovative
ideas.
